Cider Mill Operation
Cider mill operation first began in 1978.  the cider is made from a special bend of  apple varieties.  The apples are dumped into a grain hopper and then taken by conveyor to a big grinder where they are ground into apple mash.  The apple mash is taken through a big hose and dispersed into blankets, where they are layered between plastic slats about ten slats high.  They are hydraulically pressed with about two thousand pounds of  pressure.  The clear golden cider can be then be seen dripping out of the blankets.  From there the cider is pumped into a tub where filter powder is added.  The agitator is what throughly mixes the cider and powder.  After  that, it is sent through the filter, which keeps the cider, sediment free or known as shake free.  After being filtered the cider is then pumped into the jugger.  Then the jugs are filled, capped, rinsed and ready to be purchased.  The cider can be purchased in gallon, half gallon and guart jugs.
